There’s plenty of advice out there to take care of the finishing touches. We predict that there will be a shift from the minimalist, monochromatic style that has been such a popular trend to homeowners wanting to include more colour and texture into their homes. Whatever the colour scheme or design trend you’re choosing, we can help you to with the right space to create your interior design magic!

At Bowalker, we have more than 45 years combined experience transforming properties into incredible living spaces that the whole family can enjoy. By incorporating more glass and glazing into your home, you’ll benefit from increased natural light, which has been proven to boost mood and productivity – the more of that we can get at this time of year, the better! Here’s a run down of our top five home improvement trends for 2020 and how they can be incorporated into your project so you can live in your dream home this year.

Home Trend 1: Wide-span glazed doors

A fantastic benefit of wide-span glazed doors is that your home décor changes with the seasons. The view into your garden will become part of your home, so you enjoy lovely reds, oranges and yellows when the leaves fall in Autumn and pretty yellows, blues and greens in Spring when the daffodils and bluebells start to bloom. In Summer, lush green lawns and bright purple and pink flowers become your new ‘wallpaper’ and in Winter, the fresh white crisp of frost or snow gives another look to your home.

If you’re in Brighton or Shoreham-by-Sea and are lucky enough to have a sea view, it’s even better. You can watch the changing views of tides, winter storms and wildlife – who needs Winterwatch on the television, when you can see it all for yourself just outside your door?!

Choose from bifolding doors, lift & slide doors or sliding patio doors to create your natural seasons ‘wallpaper’ wall.

Home Trend 2: Lift & slide doors

Lift & slide doors are a fantastic way to incorporate huge panes of glass into your home’s design. Our aïr 500LS & 600LS lift & slide doors are available with panels up to 2.5 metres wide and 2.7 metres high for a complete sliding glass door. Panels weigh up to 300kg, but can moved using just 2 fingers, thanks to the clever engineering.

They’re becoming even more popular for homes with a view – as there are fewer frame to interrupt the picture outside! Available in lots of different configurations, lift & slide doors are available in single, double or triple track options, which means panes can slide all to the left, all to the right, or both ways – perfect if you need a dynamic space that can change with your lifestyle.

Home Trend 3: Bifold doors

Bifold doors have been a really popular trend with homeowners for the last few years, as they are the perfect choice for merging indoor and outdoor spaces. This is great if you’ve got plenty of BBQs and garden parties planned for Summer 2020! Bifolds completely fold away to open up your space and extend you kitchen or living area outdoors.

Whilst anthracite Grey, White & Black are classic choices, you could take your pick from the RAL colour chart and make a real feature of your bifolds. Signal Red would look great in a monochrome kitchen. Light Blue is a great match for blue skies outside. Or, if you’re want to be bang on trend for 2020, why not go for Classic Blue, the Pantone colour of the year for 2020!

Home Trend 4: Roof lanterns

Take your project to dizzying new heights with a Skypod roof lantern. Not only are they popular for bringing light into the middle of rooms, they also add height to a room, giving the illusion of more space than is actually there. That’s perfect if you’re limited on how far you can extend out into the garden.

Our Skypods are available in a full range of sizes and designs, with plenty of colour options that can match or contrast with the other glazing in your home. You can also choose from coloured glass options including Blue, Neutral, Bronze and Aqua as well as Clear.

Home Trend 5: A new front door

There’s no quicker or easier way to upgrade the kerb appeal of your home than fitting a new front door! Composite doors remain the top choice for homeowners, as they offer better strength, security and energy efficiency as well as incredible design options. We have two ranges to choose from – Solidor and Bowalker composite doors.

Solidor

Solidor is one of the best-known brands on the market. Their composite doors feature a 48mm thick solid timber core, for top energy efficiency. They also offer some fantastic design options, including the new Contemporary collection, which have an aluminium-look finish to suite with aluminium bi-folding and lift & slide doors.
