You’ll already know that introducing specialist glazing to a property can completely transform a room, making it ooze style and charm. It can add character, space and light – making your home the perfect place to live.

Over the last two years, glazing has featured heavily on people’s wish lists when they start planning a home improvement project. It’s a fact that as summer draws to a close, homeowners start thinking about how to make the most of their properties – especially with Christmas just around the corner.

If you’re planning an extension, take time to consider the kind of look you want to achieve. Just think, you could have your dream home before 2020!

To help you we’ve put together a guide to bifold doors, sliding doors and rooflights:

Bifold doors

Big expanses of glass, in the form of bifold doors, has risen in popularity over the last decade in the UK. Property owners around Sussex and Surrey appreciate the quality of light and space and are becoming more and more interested in introducing widespan glazed doors into their home.

Bifold doors can instantly transform a property and are becoming a real customer favourite. They add the most glorious amount of light to a room and create a sleek and stylish appearance. Bifold doors will change the overall look of your property and have the ability to simply and efficiently open up homes.

If you’re keen to knit the inside with the outside, bifold doors add to the aesthetics of any interior, creating a stunning interior space.

Choosing bifold doors, means you can also be flexible with your layout. They work by having multiple glass panels, which fold away to reveal an open space, without any obstructing frames or posts.

The concertina style folding can be configured to tie in with how you want your glazed extension to look. The doors can fold internally or externally, to the right-hand side or left-hand side.

Hugely popular and dubbed the Rolls Royce® of bifold doors, aïr 800 is available with up to 10 panels, which can each be as tall as 3 metres and as wide as 1.2 metres. That means your bifold door feature can span across an impressive 12 metres.

What’s fantastic about bifold doors is that you can seamlessly merge your indoors with your outdoors so wandering between your living space and your garden has never been so easy.

With aïr 800 bifold doors, you don’t need to worry about chunky frames spoiling the view, as sightlines are as slim as 108mm. This means that open or closed, you’ll be able to make the most of the garden.

Sliding doors

Sliding doors also boost property value and are a great alternative to bifold doors. When open, sliding doors feature glass panels which slide behind each other.

Individual glass panels are wider than those used in bifold doors so you get fewer frames but remember they don’t open up completely.

Thanks to minimal frames, they offer more light when open or closed and you can choose if you would like the panels to slide open to the left or the right.

The stunning aïr 500LS & 600LS aluminium lift & slide doors offer boundless possibilities, as they’re available with as many as 6 panes using a monorail or triple track system.

These doors can be as tall as 2.7 metres and as wide as 2.5 metres, leaving you with a wall of glass that’s up to 15 metres wide. They also come with even slimmer sightlines of just 48mm, which means you can take full advantage of the outside views.

Rooflights
